Western Regional Public Safety Training Center
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
Campus Master Plan & Conceptual Design for a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary training campus serving fire, law enforcement and disaster response agencies. Campus program included facilities with classroom, food service, library, support and administrative spaces as well as specialty skill training elements such as shooting ranges, emergency vehicle obstacle courses, and indoor and outdoor physical training resources.
The Western Regional Public Safety Training Center (WRPSTC) was established to develop and facilitate coordinated training programs involving the full range of public safety agencies now required to respond to emergency situations, and will host agencies at the federal, state and local levels. West Edge Architects was responsible for the development of campus design guidelines, development of the campus concept plan and for initiating and tracking strategies related to sustainable design. WEA also developed programs and conceptual designs for all of the academic components of the campus including classrooms, multi-purpose assembly spaces, resource center, and administrative spaces, as well as food service and a childcare center.
Creating a campus environment for both programmed and casual interaction was integral to its success.
